Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Slice them into 1/8-inch thin strips to achieve a shoestring cut.
  2. Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Drain the potatoes and pat them dry thoroughly with a clean kitchen towel or paper towel.
  4. If using an air fryer, preheat it to 375°F (190°C). For oven-baked fries, preheat to 425°F (220°C).
  5. In a large mixing bowl, combine the dried potato strips with vegetable oil and salt. Toss until evenly coated.
  6. For air fryer: Arrange the fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  7. For oven-baked: Spread the fries on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for about 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  8. Once cooked, remove the fries from the air fryer or oven and season to taste with additional salt if desired. Enjoy immediately.
