Homemade cranberry sauce is a delightful addition to any holiday meal, especially during Thanksgiving. This vibrant, tangy sauce pairs perfectly with turkey and other festive dishes, bringing a burst of flavor to the table.
Ingredients
Scale:
12 ounces fresh cranberries, rinsed and sorted
1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine the fresh cranberries, orange juice, and sugar. Stir well to combine.
Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer. Stir occasionally.
Once the mixture reaches a simmer, reduce the heat to low. Continue to cook for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cranberries start to burst.
During the last few minutes of cooking, add in the ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Stir vigorously.
Once the sauce is cooked to your liking, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly.
Transfer the homemade cranberry sauce to a serving dish or airtight container and refrigerate until ready to serve.
