The Berry Trifle is a delightful layered berry dessert that captures the essence of summer with its fresh fruit, creamy custard, and light whipped cream. This no-bake trifle dessert is perfect for gatherings, bringing together the vibrant colors and flavors of mixed berries.
Ingredients
Scale:
2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries)
1 store-bought pound cake or angel food cake, cut into cubes
2 cups heavy whipping cream
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
Fresh mint leaves, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, granulated sugar, cornstarch, salt, and vanilla extract. Stir well until fully combined.
Place the saucepan over medium heat. Continuously whisk until it thickens and starts to bubble, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool.
In a mixing bowl, combine the mixed berries and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Gently toss and let sit for about 10-15 minutes.
In a large mixing bowl, add the heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar. Use an electric mixer to whip until soft peaks form.
In a large glass trifle dish, layer the ingredients starting with cake cubes, followed by custard, and then macerated berries. Repeat the layers and finish with whipped cream.
Cover the trifle with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Before serving, garnish with additional mixed berries and fresh mint leaves.
